Professional learning is a key element to building effective schools. Education is constantly evolving, so teachers and administrators have to be knowledgeable about the best practices and latest trends that affect their students’ success. I offer a wide array of professional learning content that can be delivered in a variety of modes, including traditional learning sessions. All delivery modes can be customized to match both the time frame needed and the learning level of participants.
This service provides job-embedded support to facilitate learning. Observations, demonstration lessons, debriefing, and reflection are used to help teachers, coaches, and/or administrators meet professional learning goals. An initial consultation will include discussion about learning outcomes, current initiatives/priorities, and expected results. Initial observations will be used to develop a strategic coaching plan. Individual or group coaching can be arranged. The fee for this service depends on the number of days needed for coaching and the scope of the coaching goals.
Video-based coaching can provide an effective way for teachers, coaches, and/or administrators to deepen their understanding of their own practices. This service can be combined with on-site coaching or be provided independently. To maximize the effectiveness of video-based coaching, an initial consultation (face-to-face or virtual) will be conducted to prioritize areas of needs and design an appropriate coaching plan. The plan will include coaching cycles which will consist of specific learning targets and will include content to support understanding of focus areas. The application of this learning will be demonstrated by uploading video to the TORSH Talent™ platform where time stamped feedback will be given. This is a great way to facilitate personalized or group learning goals. The fee for this service depends on the number of days needed for coaching and the scope of the coaching goals.
Basic ELAR Practices Review
This foundational review will provide a broad perspective of the overall instructional practices of the English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) program. On-site observations will be conducted in randomly chosen classrooms in order to get a general perspective of instructional routines and practices in each grade level. A brief report summarizing the findings and offering recommendations will be prepared.
Comprehensive Literacy Program Review
The review will provide a thorough examination and analysis of the elementary and/or secondary reading and writing program by evaluating the following areas: priorities, assessment, instructional practices, materials, use of instructional time and materials, differentiated instruction, organization/communication, and professional development. The review will include a survey; on-site observations of all ELAR, Special Education, and intervention classes; interviews (as needed), and examination of schedules, curriculum documents, materials, and lesson plans. A comprehensive report summarizing findings and detailing recommendations for each area will be included.
Literacy Materials Review
This review will provide an overview of the literacy materials available to teachers and those that are used most often for instruction. The review involves a survey for teacher and administrators as well as on-site inventory and review of materials and resources. A report with findings and recommendations will be provided.
